Ura Monastery, Buddhist monastery in Ura Gewog, Bumthang District, Bhutan.
The monastery stands at an elevation of 3,100 meters, featuring two stories with a main hall containing statues and painted murals of Buddhist figures.
Founded in 1200 CE by Nyöton Thrulzhik Chöjé from the Nyö Clan, the current structure dates from 1986 and replaced an earlier temple at this location.
The monastery functions as an educational center where monks study Buddhist philosophy while maintaining traditional practices through daily rituals and ceremonies.
Located 48 kilometers from district offices, visitors can reach the monastery through roads connecting major villages of Ura Gewog including Tangsibi and Shingkhar.
The monastery houses ancient relics and traditional musical instruments while serving as a center for Vajrakilaya teachings in the region.
