Kyrenia District

Kyrenia District stretches along the northern Mediterranean coast with mountainous terrain that descends toward clear blue waters. The landscape features coastal towns, mountain villages, and natural areas throughout the region.

The area began as an ancient Greek settlement and later became a strategic region under Byzantine, Frankish, and Venetian control. Each period left architectural and cultural marks still visible today.

You can reach the district via Ercan International Airport with regular shuttle services to major towns. It helps to explore early in the day since some mountain roads are winding.

The district contains forty-four distinct communities, each with its own character. Places like Bellapais with its medieval abbey or Karavas with citrus groves make each village feel different from the others.
