Ayios Nikolaos Station, British Army station and part of in the British Sovereign Base Area of Dhekelia in Cyprus
Ayios Nikolaos Station is a military facility in the British Sovereign Base Area of Cyprus. It houses communications equipment including satellite dishes and antennas designed for signal collection and data transmission operations.
The site was established after World War II and developed from a small wireless unit into a larger signals facility. It underwent reorganization in 2003 when multiple communications units were consolidated.
The facility is not open to the public and is guarded by security personnel. From outside, the main visible features are the large satellite dishes and antennas distributed across the grounds.
The station can receive signals from up to 35 satellites simultaneously and operates over-horizon radar systems. This capability allows it to gather information across vast distances and over geographical barriers.
