Aceh Tamiang

Aceh Tamiang is an administrative regency at the eastern edge of Aceh province in northern Sumatra. It contains multiple districts spread across its territory, with Kuala Simpang serving as the main administrative center.

The regency was created in April 2002 when southeastern districts separated from East Aceh to form a distinct administrative region. This division aimed to improve local governance in the eastern part of the province.

The population of 305,217 residents comprises multiple ethnic groups, including Acehnese communities that maintain Islamic practices within Indonesia's governmental structure.
