South Bolaang Mongondow, Administrative region in North Sulawesi, Indonesia
South Bolaang Mongondow is a regency located on the southern coast of North Sulawesi Province, stretching across the Minahasa Peninsula toward the Gulf of Tomini. The territory encompasses seven districts spread across tropical landscape with both coastal and interior areas.
This regency came into existence in 2008 following the division of the original Bolaang Mongondow territory into separate administrative regions. The creation reflected broader administrative reforms across North Sulawesi Province.
The regency maintains 81 rural villages across seven districts, each preserving local governance structures through traditional desa administrative systems.
Molibagu serves as the administrative center where most government services and local facilities are based for the regency. Travelers should prepare for tropical weather, regular rainfall, and more limited infrastructure in remote villages.
The coastal Pinolosian district contains four separate islands that are accessible by boat and offer distinct natural settings. These islands attract few organized visitors and provide an authentic sense of island life.
