West Halmahera Regency

West Halmahera Regency is an administrative division on Halmahera Island in North Maluku, spanning diverse geography from coastal zones to elevated terrain. The region comprises nine districts organized as the central administration of this wider area.

The regency was created in 2003 through administrative division of the former North Halmahera district, separating the western portion into its own government. This reorganization reshaped how the province managed its local administration.
