Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base, Military air base in Ahmadi Governorate, Kuwait
Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base is a military air base in the Ahmadi Governorate that serves as an operational center for the Kuwaiti Air Force and United States Air Force units. The installation features two parallel runways and modern aircraft maintenance facilities supporting flight operations.
During the 1990 Iraqi invasion, the base suffered significant damage when enemy aircraft scattered mines across the facility, forcing Kuwaiti planes to make emergency landings on nearby roads. Following its reopening, it became a key operational hub for regional air operations.
The base maintains continuous operations with international personnel from multiple nations coordinating joint military exercises and regional security missions.
The base is military territory and not accessible to visitors, though the outer perimeter can be viewed from a distance. Daytime hours offer the best opportunity to observe aircraft movements around the facility.
Three Kuwaiti Air Force squadrons operate their entire Hornets fleets from this location while internationally mixed teams carry out joint missions. This makes it a significant hub for air force cooperation in the Middle East.
