Sankt Veit an der Glan extends across 1,493 square kilometers in the Gurktal Alps region, encompassing 20 municipalities with four principal towns.

The town served as the capital of the Carinthian duchy until 1518, receiving its first documented mention in 1131 with the establishment of Saint Vitus Church.

The Wiesenmarkt fair, established in 1362, continues as a traditional celebration, marking one of the longest-running festivals in Central Europe.

The district maintains a population of 54,092 residents spread across various municipalities, with Sankt Veit an der Glan town housing 12,225 inhabitants.

Wolfgang Puck, the international chef and restaurateur, originated from this municipality, which now hosts the Jacques Lemans watch manufacturing company.
