Brunnkogel

Brunnkogel is a mountain summit in the Höllengebirge range rising to 1708 meters above sea level. The route ascends through thick forests and rocky sections before reaching the peak, where a large wooden cross marks the top.

The peak became a recognized mountain destination after a large cross was erected at the summit. This marker helped establish the location as an important point in the local mountaineering tradition.

The summit serves as a gathering point for hikers from the surrounding area who have long included this route in their mountain traditions. It reflects how local people connect with the Alps as part of their everyday outdoor life.

The route is clearly marked and starts near Taferklause with signposts throughout the walk. You will need good fitness and sturdy hiking boots, especially on the rocky sections of the path.

From the summit you can see two lakes visible from high above that rest in a valley below. These water bodies provide an unexpected contrast to the rocky peak and add visual interest to the view.
