The Augstenberg rises to 3,230 meters between Galtür, Austria, and Scuol, Switzerland, featuring steep slopes and exposed rock formations along its faces.

The mountain gained recognition during the late 19th century when alpinists began exploring and documenting the different routes to reach its peak.

Local inhabitants refer to the mountain by different names, including Piz Blaisch Lunga in Romansh, reflecting the multilingual character of the border region.

Climbers access the summit through established routes from both Galtür and Scuol, requiring proper alpine equipment and experienced guidance for safety.

The mountain marks a natural border point where three distinct Alpine cultures intersect: Germanic, Romance, and Rhaeto-Romance speaking communities.
