MQ Libelle, Rooftop structure at Leopold Museum, Vienna, Austria.
MQ Libelle is a rooftop structure on the Leopold Museum that extends over several hundred square meters and features glass walls creating a floating appearance. The structure includes an open terrace and a kiosk serving refreshments.
The project was designed by architects Laurids and Manfred Ortner and completed as an addition to the MuseumsQuartier complex. Its realization was delayed due to construction restrictions related to pandemic circumstances.
The space reflects artistic vision through its glass design and light-based installations that visitors encounter directly. These elements demonstrate how contemporary art can merge with architecture to create a functional yet expressive environment.
The venue is accessible from April through October and offers free entry to visitors. You can enjoy panoramic views from the terrace and purchase food or drinks at the kiosk.
The name references the dragonfly insect, which inspired the form and mobility of the design. The structure hosts diverse events and functions without any set minimum spending requirements.
