Sabirabad District

Sabirabad District is an administrative area in central Azerbaijan that encompasses multiple towns and villages across flat terrain. The main town sits on the Kura River and serves as the administrative center for the region.

The district was formed in 1930, taking its current name from administrative reorganization during that era. Earlier, Ukrainian settlers had established a community here in the late 1800s that left a lasting mark on the region.

Weekly markets have long shaped local life here, bringing people together to trade goods and share news from across the region. These gathering places reveal how commerce and community remain intertwined in daily routines.
