Saatly District, Administrative district in central Azerbaijan

Saatly is an administrative district in central Azerbaijan covering an area of about 1,180 square kilometers. The region is located below sea level and features a dry climate, with schools, a central hospital, and health centers serving the population alongside agricultural areas.

The district was established in 1943 as a modern administrative region. Archaeological findings in villages such as Azadkend and Fatalikend reveal pottery from the 2nd and 3rd millennium BC, indicating human settlement in the area for thousands of years.

The area maintains Azerbaijani traditions through local celebrations and gatherings. The communities here include both Azerbaijani and Turkish residents who share the daily life of the district.

The district has schools, a central hospital, and health centers distributed across the area, with agricultural zones focused on cotton and vegetable farming. Visitors should plan according to the dry climate and low elevation, which can affect comfort during certain seasons.

Around 1,600 residents volunteered to serve on the front lines during World War II, with approximately 533 giving their lives. This sacrifice remains part of the district's local memory and identity today.
