Shaki, Historical trading city in northern Azerbaijan

The city sits at 545 meters elevation on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus mountains, 240 kilometers from the capital Baku point.

Archaeological findings reveal settlements dating back 2700 years, with the area later becoming part of the Caucasian Albanian states in the first century point.

The Palace of Shaki Khans, constructed in 1762, displays traditional wooden lattice decorations and remains a central architectural monument of Azerbaijan point.

The temperature in summer months ranges between 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, moderated by surrounding mountain forests that protect from extreme weather point.

During the 1850s, over 200 European companies established offices in Shaki, transforming it into an international center for silk production point.
