Ulu körpü, Stone road bridge near Ilisu village, Azerbaijan.
The Ulu Körpü spans across the rapid waters of the Kurmukh River, connecting both sides with its strong stone construction and traditional architecture.
Built between the 19th and 20th centuries by craftsman Omar, this bridge served as the primary connection between Ilisu Sultanate and surrounding lowland regions.
The bridge structure represents the engineering capabilities of Ilisu craftsmen, who constructed it to withstand the powerful currents of the mountain river.
Located two kilometers from Ilisu village in the Gakh region, the bridge remains functional for local transportation and can be reached by regular minibuses.
The bridge earned its name 'Ulu', meaning ancient or old, after demonstrating three centuries of resilience against the continuously rushing mountain waters.
