Agsu District

Agsu District stretches across mountainous areas and sloping plains south of the Great Caucasian Mountains, with its highest peak reaching 929 meters.

The district emerged from a strategic resettlement in 1735 when Nadir Shah ordered Shamakhi inhabitants to establish a new city along the Agsu river.

The district maintains 69 educational institutions, multiple cultural centers, and an ethnography museum that documents regional traditions and local heritage.

The region contains six hospitals, eighteen medical clinics, and numerous agricultural facilities supporting grain production and cattle breeding activities.

Archaeological excavations have revealed medieval ram statues and the XV century Sheikh Dursun Mausoleum among the ruins of the original settlement.
