Baku Olympic Stadium, Multi-purpose sports venue in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Baku Olympic Stadium is a multi-purpose sports venue in Baku, Azerbaijan, featuring a distinctive white exterior made of curved elements. The seating is arranged in several tiers and provides roughly 69,870 places with views over the central pitch.
Construction began in June 2011 and finished in February 2015, with the Turkish company Tekfen Construction overseeing the work. The opening took place in time for the first European Games, held in the city shortly afterward.
The venue takes its name from the Olympic Games, though it has never hosted Olympic competitions and specializes in football instead. On match days, supporters from different regions of the country gather here, bringing flags and chants to back their team.
Visitors reach the site through several entrances, and the facility offers parking for more than 3,600 vehicles. Public transport stops nearby, so arriving without a car is also an option.
The facility hosted three group matches and one quarter-final during UEFA Euro 2020. This marked the first time the venue took part in a major international football tournament.
