Construction of the facility started in June 2011 and concluded in February 2015, with Turkish company Tekfen Construction managing the building process.
The stadium serves as the home ground for Azerbaijan's national football team and represents a central element in the country's sports development program.
Visitors can access the stadium through multiple entrances, with dedicated parking spaces for 3,617 vehicles and direct connections to public transportation.
The venue hosted three group matches and one quarter-final during UEFA Euro 2020, marking its first involvement in a major international football championship.
