Yerevan state Azerbaijan dramatic theater, State dramatic theater in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijan State Drama Theater presents theatrical performances in a dedicated venue, offering both classical and modern Azerbaijani productions throughout the year.
Established in Yerevan in 1928 under the leadership of Yunis Nuri, the theater operated as the only Azerbaijani theater in Armenia during its early period.
The theater stages numerous adaptations of traditional Azerbaijani plays, including works by J. Jabbarly, A. Shirvanzade, and S. Vurgun, representing regional theatrical traditions.
The theater company relocated to Baku in 1989, where it continues regular performances and maintains an active schedule of productions.
In April 1944, the theater participated in the All-Union Festival of Shakespearean Performances with a production of Othello marking Shakespeare's 380th birth anniversary.
