The 5.5-meter-tall memorial depicts Jafar Jabbarli, an Azerbaijani playwright, standing in a dignified pose on a central square in Baku.
The monument, created by sculptor Mir-Ali Mir-Gasimov, was inaugurated in 1982 following two decades of planning and construction delays.
The statue pays tribute to Jafar Jabbarli, who shaped modern Azerbaijani theater through his literary works during the early 20th century.
Located near the Baku railway station entrance, the monument provides an orientation point for travelers exploring the central district.
The memorial contains 280 tons of pink granite sourced from Ukraine's Novo-Danilovsky quarry, selected personally by the sculptor and his wife.
