Nizami Cinema, Constructivist movie theater on Bul-Bul Avenue, Baku, Azerbaijan
Nizami Cinema is a multiplex theater in Baku with multiple screening spaces distributed across two main floors. The rooms feature different screen sizes, including one particularly large display for current films.
The building was constructed in 1934 by architects Sadig Dadashov and Mikayil Useynov in the constructivist style. After comprehensive renovations, it reopened in 2011 as a modern multiplex cinema.
The cinema is named after the Persian poet Nizami and reflects Azerbaijan's literary heritage. Visitors experience its role as a gathering place where local audiences come for national film events and premieres.
The lower areas house shops and multiple cafes, while a restaurant with an adjustable ceiling occupies the second floor. The facility is straightforward to navigate with various amenities available between screenings.
The upper floor contains an exclusive VIP screening room with just 24 seats, equipped with advanced projection and sound technology. This private space offers a completely different experience compared to the public screening areas.
