House-Museum of Uzeyir Hajibeyov, House museum in Shusha, Azerbaijan
The House-Museum of Uzeyir Hajibeyov occupies a 19th-century building with four exhibition rooms displaying personal artifacts, manuscripts, and photographs of the composer.
Founded in 1959 following a resolution by the Council of Ministers of Azerbaijan SSR, the museum operated until 1992 when conflicts forced its relocation to Baku.
The museum collection includes 1700 exhibits documenting the life of Hajibeyov, who created the first opera in the Middle East and developed modern Azerbaijani music.
Located at M.F.Akhundov Street 19 in Shusha, the museum undergoes restoration work following its return to Azerbaijani control in November 2020.
The collection preserves Hajibeyov's childhood cap, spectacles, violin, writing instruments, and ground from under his favorite pear tree in the museum yard.
