Mil-Mughan Economic Region, Economic region in central Azerbaijan.
Mil-Mughan Economic Region comprises four administrative districts in central Azerbaijan: Beylagan, Imishli, Saatly, and Sabirabad. The area spreads across lowland plains suitable for intensive agriculture and is situated between other major economic zones in the country.
The region was created in 2021 through a presidential decree as part of Azerbaijan's economic reorganization. This restructuring divided the country into more specialized economic zones to better serve regional needs and development.
Agriculture shapes daily life here, with cotton and grain crops forming the backbone of the local economy and community identity. These farming practices are deeply rooted in how people use the land and interact with their surroundings.
The region borders Iran and provides access to trade connections with neighboring economic zones through its strategic location. Visitors should know the landscape is rural, with most activity centered on agricultural areas rather than urban centers.
The area combines conditions that support both intensive grain harvests and livestock raising in the same territory. This diversity in farming practices sets it apart from single-crop regions found elsewhere in the country.
