Ferhat Pasha Mosque, Ottoman mosque in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Ferhat Pasha Mosque displays Ottoman architectural elements with a central dome, stone walls, and a 43-meter-tall minaret in white limestone construction.
Built in 1579 under Ottoman rule, the mosque underwent complete reconstruction after its destruction in 1993 and reopened to the public in 2016.
The mosque represents the influence of Ottoman architecture in the Balkans and serves as a center for religious ceremonies, education, and community gatherings.
The mosque opens daily for prayers and welcomes visitors outside prayer times, with guided tours available through local religious authorities.
May 7th, the date of the mosque's destruction in 1993, became the official Day of Mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina, commemorating all destroyed religious buildings.
