Anubis: The Ride, Launched roller coaster in Plopsaland De Panne, Belgium
Anubis: The Ride is a launched steel roller coaster at Plopsaland De Panne, a theme park in Belgium near the French border, and it features three inversions including a dive loop and an Immelmann turn. The track passes through a tophat element that rises to 34 meters and the ride uses electromagnetic launch technology to propel the cars.
The coaster was built by Gerstlauer and opened in April 2009, making it Belgium's fastest ride at that time. It held that record for several years until 2016, when a new ride at Walibi Belgium took over.
The station is designed to look like the Hof Ten Dorpe building from the Het Huis Anubis television series, a show that was very popular with children across Belgium and the Netherlands. Fans of the series will spot many small details in the theming around the entrance and queue area.
The ride is easy to spot from most areas of the park and straightforward to reach on foot from the main entrance. Arriving early in the day tends to mean shorter waits, since queues build up through the afternoon.
The launch sends the car from a standstill to full speed in around two seconds, giving riders an immediate and very physical jolt before the tophat element. Many visitors say this short burst at the start stays with them longer than the inversions that follow.
