The Museum of Fine Arts occupies a Neoclassical building in Citadelpark, featuring high ceilings, spacious galleries, and abundant natural light throughout its exhibition spaces.
Founded in 1798 during French rule, the museum initially displayed artworks in Saint Peter's Church before moving to its current location in 1904.
The collection spans from medieval to modern art, presenting masterpieces by Hieronymus Bosch, Rubens, James Ensor, and numerous Flemish painters across thirty exhibition rooms.
The museum opens Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 to 17:30, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, with extended hours until 22:00 on first Thursdays.
Visitors can observe conservators performing restoration work on paintings during weekdays, offering direct insight into art preservation techniques.
