Château Le Fy, Protected heritage château in Esneux, Belgium.
Château Le Fy is a Renaissance-style château on a hilltop in Esneux featuring Gothic roof turrets and a medieval tower set within an English park. The building displays hundreds of individual roof sections that create an intricate roofline.
Built between 1904 and 1905 by architect Paul Saintenoy for Jean-Édouard-Jules Van Parys, son-in-law of industrialist Ernest Solvay, the château served as a residence overlooking the town. It was occupied by military forces during both World Wars and later housed Eastern European refugees.
The name comes from the Fy family who owned and shaped the property for generations. Today locals view it as a regional landmark that represents the connection between local heritage and European architectural traditions.
The château is located on a hilltop above Esneux, requiring a walk to reach the property while offering views of the surrounding area. Following extensive renovations beginning in 2003, the building is now more accessible, and the English park surrounding the château can be explored.
The architectural elements of this château inspired the design of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland California. This connection to one of the world's most famous theme parks often goes unnoticed by visitors.
