Apriltsi

Apriltsi is a mountain town in Lovech Province situated in a valley at 550 meters elevation. It formed from the merging of four former villages and sits near Botev Peak, with the surrounding area falling within the Central Balkan National Park.

Archaeological remains from the Neolithic period and coins dating to the 4th-3rd century BC show that people have lived in the region since ancient times. The modern town later developed as separate mountain communities gradually came together.

The town keeps its mountain village character with old Bulgarian houses scattered across what were once separate communities. These buildings shape how the place looks and feels today, reflecting how mountain life has always been organized here.

The location sits within a mountain range, making the area good for hiking and outdoor exploration. The best time to visit is between May and October, when weather is stable and trails are accessible.

The air here has unusually high oxygen levels, comparable to famous European spa destinations. This quality made the location historically attractive for treating respiratory problems.
