Devil's Throat Cave

The Devil's Throat Cave features an underground waterfall that drops 42 meters through a vertical shaft in the Western Rhodope Mountains.

The cave formation dates back millions of years, carved by the Trigrad River through marble rocks, creating intricate underground passages and chambers.

Local folklore connects the cave to the Greek myth of Orpheus, who descended into the underworld through this location to retrieve his beloved Eurydice.

Visitors can access the cave through guided tours from Monday to Sunday between 9:00 and 17:00, following 288 steps alongside the underground river.

Objects and materials dropped into the cave's underground river never resurface at its exit point, despite numerous scientific experiments tracking their path.
