Zabat Peak

Zabat Peak rises to an elevation of 2,688 meters, featuring steep rocky slopes on its northern face and gentler grassy terrain to the south.

The peak's geological formation dates back to the Pleistocene epoch, shaped by alpine glaciation that created its distinctive granite composition and sharp ridges.

The Bulgarian name Zăbăt means 'The Fang', reflecting the peak's tooth-like profile when viewed from the Begovitsa cirque in the northern direction.

Hikers can access the summit via marked trails connecting Begovitsa and Demyanitsa refuge, with the southern route offering easier terrain for climbing.

Cold springs emerging near the peak's base form the source of the Bashmandra river, which flows into the larger Pirinska Bistritsa water system.
