Марагидик, Mountain summit in Central Balkan Mountains, Bulgaria
Maragidik is a mountain summit in the Central Balkan range, reaching 1,889 meters (6,197 feet) in height. From the top, you can see down into the Vidima River valley and across to the town of Apriltsi situated below.
The peak holds an alternative name, Rusalka, and stands near the Rusalii Pass, which historically connected the northern and southern regions. This pass served as a traditional crossing route through the mountain range.
Local mountaineers maintain several marked trails leading to the summit, preserving traditional Bulgarian mountain hiking routes through beech forests.
The main access route starts from the Ostrets neighborhood in Apriltsi and follows forest paths through the Hristova Struzhna area. The hike takes roughly four hours and passes through beech forests along the way.
The northeastern slope holds a narrow path known mainly to local residents that cuts through dense mountain vegetation. This less-used route provides a more direct way up the slope compared to the main trail.
