Мегалитно светилище под Царев връх, Megalithic sanctuary near Tsarev Peak, Bulgaria
The megalithic sanctuary spreads across a sacred territory between Markov Peak and Tsarev Peak, featuring multiple stone structures at 2000-2200 meters altitude.
Archaeological excavations from 2001 to 2006 uncovered artifacts dating from the Late Bronze Age through the pre-Roman period to Late Antiquity.
The site contains numerous rock-carved altars and ritual cavities in the stone, with local folklore connecting them to the legendary figure of Krali Marko.
The sanctuary extends for 5 kilometers along the Rila Mountain ridge, offering visitors access to various megalithic structures and ceremonial basins.
The trilith structure aligns with the summer solstice sunrise, indicating the advanced astronomical knowledge of ancient Thracian tribes.
