Dobrila, Mountain hut in Balkan Mountains, Bulgaria
Dobrila is a mountain hut located at about 1800 meters elevation in the Central Balkan region within the national park boundaries in Plovdiv Province. The facility contains 70 beds spread across multiple rooms, satellite television, wireless internet access, and year-round water service.
The hut was founded in 1928 as a basic shelter for mountain travelers and hikers. Over time it was modernized with renovated bungalows and an enlarged dining area.
The restaurant serves traditional Bulgarian mountain food that hikers and visitors eat while staying in this remote location. The kitchen keeps local cooking traditions alive by using ingredients from the surrounding region.
The location sits on established hiking trails that connect from surrounding towns and entry points to the Balkan range. Visitors should prepare for changing weather conditions at this elevation and bring appropriate clothing.
Two protected nature reserves border the surrounding area: the Steneto Reserve to the northwest and the Old River Reserve to the southeast. These protected zones make the area a refuge for rare plant and animal species found in the Balkan mountains.
