Saint Helen's Island, River island in Ville-Marie, Canada.

Saint Helen's Island stretches across 3 kilometers in length and rises 30 meters above the Saint Lawrence River within Montreal's Hochelaga Archipelago.

The British government purchased the island in 1818 and constructed a fort between 1820 and 1824 to strengthen defenses along the Saint Lawrence River.

The island transformed during Expo 67, when additional land from Montreal Metro excavations expanded its territory for the international exhibition.

Visitors access the island through the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, the Concorde Bridge, or the Jean-Drapeau metro station on the yellow line.

The Stewart Museum, La Ronde amusement park, and the Biosphere environmental museum currently occupy different sections of this heritage-designated island.

Expo 67 architectural structures in Montreal

The Expo 67 left multiple structures in Montreal. The Biosphere, the Habitat 67 residential complex and the Casino in the former Quebec Pavilion demonstrate the World Fair's influence on the city's architecture. The La Ronde amusement park and Alexander Calder's Three Disks art installation remain as preserved elements of this international exhibition.
