Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption

The grey sandstone cathedral features a square bell tower reaching 67 meters, Gothic arch windows, and traditional ecclesiastical elements at St George Street corner.

Construction began in April 1939 under architect Louis-Napoleon Audet's direction, with the cornerstone blessing coinciding with King George VI's visit to Moncton.

The cathedral contains stained glass windows by Auguste Labouret depicting biblical women and serves as a central religious institution for the Acadian community.

The cathedral structure spans 74 meters along Lutz Street and 27 meters across the front, incorporating Belgian ceramic tiles and various marble types throughout.

A digital interpretation center, MR21, opened in 2019 within the cathedral, offering interactive presentations about the building's history.
