Forest Hill, Residential district in Midtown Toronto, Canada

Forest Hill is a residential neighborhood in Midtown Toronto featuring large mansions on spacious lots, with Tudor and Georgian architecture spread across gently sloping streets. The architectural style reflects a conservative, established character that has defined the area since its creation.

The area was renamed Forest Hill in 1923, taking its name from a summer home built in 1860 by John Wickson, marking a shift from its earlier identity as Spadina Heights. This transformation established it as an exclusive residential enclave.

The neighborhood is home to two prestigious Canadian private schools: Upper Canada College for boys and Bishop Strachan School for girls, which have served affluent families for generations. These institutions shape the community's identity and social rhythm.

The commercial hub is centered at Spadina Road and Lonsdale Road, where specialized boutiques and everyday shopping services are concentrated. The neighborhood is easy to navigate, particularly when starting from the southern entrance.

The residential streets intentionally have no sidewalks, a distinctive feature that sets the neighborhood apart and reinforces its exclusive character. Additionally, original building regulations required that trees planted in front yards be architect-designed.
