Originally serving as Western Canada's first hospital, the building transformed into a museum in 1967 after extensive preparations and government agreements.
The museum exhibits preserve Franco-Manitoban and Métis heritage through collections including Louis Riel's personal belongings and historical artifacts from the region.
Located at 494 Taché Avenue in Winnipeg, the museum maintains regular visiting hours and offers guided tours in both English and French.
The structure stands as Winnipeg's oldest remaining building, constructed using a joint-based technique without nails in its original architecture.
