Manitoba Theatre for Young People, Professional theatre for young audiences in The Forks, Canada
Manitoba Theatre for Young People features a main stage with 315 seats and a secondary hall for rehearsals and multipurpose activities at Shaw Performing Arts Center.
Founded in 1965 as Actors' Showcase, the institution transformed into a professional theatre for young audiences in 1982 under the direction of Leslee Silverman.
The theatre runs Manitoba's largest theatre school, providing acting and performance education to more than 1,500 students aged three to teenagers annually.
The theatre space encompasses 5,270 square feet with a stage area of 1,344 square feet, offering various seating configurations for different performance types.
The institution provides free acting, performing, and film training programs specifically designed for Indigenous youth between 12 and 18 years old.
