Martlet House, University building with Scottish Baronial architecture in Ville-Marie, Canada.
Located at 1430 Peel Street, Martlet House features intricate stone details, conical roofs, tourelles, and battlements characteristic of Scottish castle designs.
Built in 1928 by architect David Jerome Spence, the building served as Canadian headquarters for Seagram Company until its donation to McGill University in 2002.
The building exemplifies 19th century Scottish Baronial revival architecture through its incorporation of Late Gothic elements and fortified domestic architectural features.
McGill University invested 1.5 million dollars to renovate the structure for its Development and Alumni Relations department, which relocated there in 2004.
Before its current location, the name Martlet House designated two other properties, including a stone mansion at 3605 De la Montagne Street built in 1925.
