1801 Hollis Street, Office tower in downtown Halifax, Canada
This 22-story office tower rises 87 meters with a glazed exterior and modern interior finishes throughout its roughly 223,000 square meters of space. The building contains multiple office units, shared facilities, and a dedicated boardroom for business use.
Built in 1985 as Central Trust Tower, this project marked an important addition to Halifax's downtown area. The construction process uncovered significant archaeological findings that revealed the site's historical layers.
The facade shows white and blue enamel panels with reflective curtain walls that reflect the original identity of Central Trust. These design features are visible from street level and help define the character of the harbor district.
The building is equipped with five elevators and includes underground parking and electric charging stations for vehicle access. Shower facilities and a shared boardroom are available for those using the space on a regular basis.
Construction work led to the discovery of around 25,000 historical artifacts, mostly ceramics from earlier times. This unexpected archaeological find tells the story of human activity at the site long before modern development.
