Prairie Theatre Exchange occupies the third floor of Portage Place mall, featuring a main stage and studio space for professional theatrical productions.
Founded in 1973 as Manitoba Theatre Workshop, the organization moved to its current location in 1989 with a new 323-seat theatre facility.
The theatre has presented 340 plays throughout its history, including 149 world premieres of Canadian works that reflect national stories and perspectives.
The venue provides indoor bicycle parking for patrons and offers volunteer opportunities with shifts ranging from 90 minutes to three hours.
Through the Art Common initiative, Prairie Theatre Exchange provides free creative spaces in the Gendis Studio for local artists during weekdays.
