Animaland Park, Sculpture garden and amusement park in Penobsquis, Canada.
Animaland Park is a sculpture garden in Penobsquis, New Brunswick, featuring concrete animal figures scattered across the grounds. Life-size creatures include fighting moose, a duck slide, and a giant lobster playground structure.
Artist Winston Atwood Bronnum founded the park in the 1960s, initially creating wooden carvings. After a workshop fire, he rebuilt the figures in concrete, creating a more durable collection that remains today.
The concrete sculptures show animals native to the region and emerged as a roadside attraction for travelers passing through southern New Brunswick during the 1970s and 1980s. Families would stop to explore these unusual figures.
The park sits along a main road and is easily accessible when driving through the region. The grounds were transformed into a campground in 2018, so visitors can explore along forest paths and open recreational spaces.
The faded yellow giraffe, black bear figures, and massive pale moose remain as original creations showing Bronnum's craftsmanship. Each figure was hand-built with cement and local materials and now carries marks from decades of exposure to the elements.
