Dent de Jaman, Mountain summit in Vaud Alps, Switzerland.
Dent de Jaman is a 1,875 meter (6,151 feet) peak in the Vaud Alps that has a sharp, shark fin-like shape. It rises prominently above Lake Geneva and dominates the skyline of this alpine region.
The peak was climbed in 1830 by Polish romantic poet Adam Mickiewicz along with fellow writers Zygmunt Krasiński and Antoni Edward Odyniec. This ascent became a documented moment connecting mountaineering with the romantic literary movement.
The peak serves as a landmark in the region's climbing culture and draws mountaineers throughout the year. It holds importance in the local alpine traditions of the area.
You can reach the mountain using the Montreux-Rochers de Naye train line or by driving to the Col de Jaman parking area at 1,500 meters elevation. From there, multiple trails of varying difficulty lead to the summit.
The western face offers technical climbing routes with different difficulty grades, while the eastern side provides easier ascent and descent options. This makes the mountain accessible to both experienced climbers and casual hikers.
