Zunfthaus zur Meisen, Guild house in Münsterhof, Switzerland
The Zunfthaus zur Meisen stands at Münsterhof 20, featuring French Rococo architecture with sandstone from Bollinger quarries and decorated interior spaces.
Built in 1752, two widow stonemasons secured the construction contract by submitting lower bids than their male competitors for this guild building.
The building contained the porcelain and faience collection of the Swiss National Museum until 2018, displaying dishware developments from the 18th century.
The venue accommodates various events with multiple rooms offering seating for 30 to 240 guests and standing capacity for up to 500 people.
An observatory on the roof helped determine Zürich's geographical coordinates in 1759 using astronomical measurements and calculations.
