Zunfthaus zur Saffran, Guild house at Limmatquai promenade, Switzerland.

Zunfthaus zur Saffran is a Baroque residential building on the Limmat waterfront in Zurich, featuring classical architectural elements such as cornices and columns along its symmetrical stone facade. The three-story structure contains multiple interior spaces with original decorations and is used today for various events and gatherings.

The current building was constructed between 1719 and 1723 and replaced five earlier structures on the same site, with records of occupation dating back to 1383. The new construction reflected the growing wealth of the spice guild and its increasing importance in Zurich's commerce.

The building preserves the heritage of Zurich's spice trading guild through elaborate decorations and intricate wooden craftsmanship visible throughout its rooms. The detailed ornamentation shows how important the spice trade was to the city and how the guild members took pride in their profession.

The building is located close to the city center and is easily reached on foot, positioned directly along the river in a central location. The interior spaces can accommodate events of varying sizes and the waterfront location provides convenient access from throughout the city.

The building served as headquarters for one of Zurich's most powerful guilds and played a significant role in developing the city's long-distance trade. Its riverside location was strategically chosen to provide direct access to trade routes and goods transportation.
