Zunfthaus zur Haue

The Zunfthaus zur Haue stands at Limmatquai 52, featuring Gothic windows and distinctive crow-stepped gables along the Limmat River promenade.

First documented in 1389, the building served as a meeting place for salt merchants before becoming the headquarters of the Zunft zum Kämbel merchant guild.

The building combines three separate historical structures and displays traditional Swiss architectural elements, including painted ornaments and memorial decorations.

Located between Münsterbrücke and Rathausbrücke bridges, the building now houses a restaurant offering local gastronomy in its Weinstube section.

A memorial plate and deer sculptures on the roof commemorate the Salomon Hirzel family, who previously owned this commercial landmark.
