Zürich Town Hall, Renaissance government building in central Zürich, Switzerland
The Town Hall stands on foundations anchored in the Limmat River, featuring a distinct architectural design with a pedestrian bridge connection at Limmatquai.
Built between 1694 and 1698, this structure replaced the previous Town Hall from 1397, which had succeeded a 13th-century courthouse called Richthus.
The building maintains its governmental function as the meeting place for both the cantonal parliament and the City Parliament of Zürich.
The main entrance to the Town Hall connects directly to the Rathausbrücke, providing access from the medieval section of Zürich.
The Town Hall houses multiple legislative bodies while remaining separate from the Stadthaus, where the city's executive administration operates.
