Jing'an Temple, Buddhist temple in central Shanghai, China
The temple complex spans 22,000 square meters with three main halls: the Mahavira Hall, Hall of Heavenly Kings, and Three Saints Hall.
Founded in 247 CE during the Three Kingdoms period as Hudu Zhongyuan Temple, it received its current name Jing'an Temple in 1008.
The temple maintains the Tang Dynasty tradition as the only active center for Chinese Esoteric Buddhism, preserving ancient Buddhist practices and ceremonies.
The entrance fee is 50 yuan, with special rates during Chinese New Year and Buddhist festivals, accessible via lines 2, 7, and 14 at Jing'an Temple Station.
The Mahavira Hall houses a 6.6-meter silver Buddha statue weighing 15 tons, surrounded by intricate wooden architecture and copper roof tiles.
