Tashilhunpo Monastery, Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Xigazê, China
Tashilhunpo Monastery spreads across 300,000 square meters with multiple temples, halls, and residences arranged in symmetrical patterns against mountain slopes.
The First Dalai Lama, Gendun Drubpa, established this religious center in 1447, which later became the traditional seat of Panchen Lamas.
The monastery continues its role as an educational institution where monks study Buddhist scriptures, perform rituals, and maintain centuries-old traditions.
Visitors can access the monastery through guided tours from April to October, when temperatures remain above 10 degrees Celsius.
The Main Assembly Hall contains thousands of designated spaces for deities, while the Jamba Chyenmu Temple houses a 26-meter bronze Buddha statue.
