Tsuen Wan station, Metro station in Tsuen Wan District, Hong Kong.
Tsuen Wan Station is a ground-level station with two side platforms positioned near Sai Lau Kok Road at the northern terminus of the MTR Tsuen Wan line. The station features an open architectural design with direct stairs and ramps connecting the train platforms to street level without need for elevators.
The station opened in 1982 after the original underground design was modified for surface-level construction. This change happened around the time the walled village of Sam Tung Uk was relocated from the area.
The station serves as a hub connecting residents and visitors to the Sam Tung Uk Museum and New Town Mall, demonstrating how public transit has shaped local daily life. These destinations reflect the area's evolution and remain central to how people navigate the neighborhood.
The station features straightforward access with stairs and ramps allowing quick movement between the train and street level. Multiple bus and minibus routes operate nearby, making connections to other parts of Tsuen Wan District convenient.
This is the only surface-level stop on the Tsuen Wan line, contrasting with the mostly underground MTR network throughout Hong Kong. The elevated position offers views of the surrounding waterfront and allows passengers to see the neighborhood layout directly from the platforms.
