Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Autonomous prefecture in western Yunnan, China

The prefecture spans 11,172 square kilometers at an elevation of 920 meters, featuring mountains, rivers, and five administrative divisions including Ruili and Mangshi City.

The region established formal recognition of Dai and Jingpo ethnic minorities through its designation as an autonomous prefecture on July 24, 1953.

The Water-Splashing Festival draws residents to participate in traditional celebrations where water symbolizes purification according to Dai ethnic customs.

The prefecture maintains direct trade connections with Myanmar through the Jiegao Border Trade Zone, which functions as a central marketplace for jade and precious stones.

The Tree-Wrapped Pagoda near Yunyan Hill demonstrates natural integration as a banyan tree has completely enclosed the earliest Buddhist structure built by Dai people.
